The
LUSSO AESTHETICS
Experience

Before, during and after your treatment:

There's some things you should know...

Every client I meet is already beautiful, but it's my job to make them feel that way. If you're thinking of coming in for a treatment there are a few things I'd like you to be aware of beforehand.

First things first, safety. Within the Aesthetics Industry, it’s important to recognise that although most treatments are non-surgical, they are still invasive. Needles do enter the skin leaving a small open wound which needs time to heal and could be at risk of contra-actions. Therefore, it’s of paramount importance that Aestheticians practice patient safety right from the first contact. We should make sure that any risks or side effects associated with treatments are made explicitly clear; we should ensure that the patient is clear on all treatment options available to them; and most importantly, we should carry out a thorough assessment during the initial consultation process to determine which treatments are suitable for the patient, and which are not, as we are all individuals with different wants and needs.

When you visit me, should I feel that you are seeking a certain treatment that I do not think is appropriate following our consultation, or I believe you have been pressured or rushed your decision; I will, as a professional, refuse to perform any such procedure. This is not just for safety purposes, but also because I pride myself on integrity and my ability to maintain a patients physical and mental health at all times.

Before your treatment

  • Make sure you've had ample time to decide that you're ready to have a treatment done, and that you're doing it for you and you only!

  • Try to avoid planning any important events for 2-7 days, this is to allow any swelling or bruising to subside.

  • Do not consume any alcohol 48 hours prior to your appointment.

  • Avoid consumption of any medication or substance that may thin your blood for a few days beforehand, including but not limited to: Aspirin, Ibuprofen, St Johns Wart, Omega 3, Vitamin E.

  • If you are concerned about bruising, you can take Arnica tablets for a few days before the help reduce the risk.

  • If you suffer from cold sores please ask you pharmacist for medication that helps reduce the risk of developing one, this is because the process of having fillers will disturb the underlying tissues and could result in a coldsore developing. (mostly applicable for lip fillers)

During your treatment

  • Depending on your treatment area, your appointment will last between 30-45 minutes start to finish.

  • When you arrive we will go through you consultation form and any questions may you have.

  • I'll then apply a topical numbing cream to your treatment area and allow that to take affect.

  • Once we've finished we'll go through aftercare in great detail and allow more time for any questions.

Aftercare

  • Common side effects include swelling (slight or severe), bruising, redness and tenderness.

  • It can take anywhere between 5-10 days for your side effects to settle down.

  • Swelling is the body's natural response as a healing process, this can feel like 'lumps' but is just bruising and fluid in the area.

  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours.

  • Avoid smoking for 2-6 hours.

  • No sun or heat treatments for 24 hours or while bruising is present.

  • Most clients do not need any pain relief, however you can apply a cold compress to help relieve discomfort.

  • Avoid painkillers.

Most importantly, always listen to and communicate with your practitioner.

Thank you, I look forward to seeing you!
